If you have read my recent post, I headed over to Sabah for a holiday! Do check it out here if you haven't: http://www.seraphsam.com/2012/10/sabah-trip-of-islands-food.html
So as for the 2nd part of my trip, I was able to visit the Mari-mari cultural village. Mari-mari in direct translation is "come come" We paid RM150 per person to go in, and we were able to visit 4 of the native Sabah tribes houses.
In the cultural village, we were able to see how the natives lived among each other and of course, able to drink some of the Tuak (rice wine) that they have made.omg i'm such an alcoholic
Lets just head to some of the pictures over there:
Interiors of a long house:
An introduction of how to make tuak:
(this is a traditional trampoline)
harvesting honey:
some pandan juice & roti jala:
headhunters:
making ropes & vests:
making a traditional fire & bamboo dishes:
and soon after that, we were brought to the event hall where we were able to see cultural dances by the natives
The Musicians
The dances:
and here are some videos of the dances:
we were also able to take some photos with the performers that day
with the dancers
With the fam
Well that is pretty much the trip to the cultural village! Do head over there if you have the chance! it is worth every dollar you spend =)
