Yes once again I'm in the Philippines! I've headed over to Cebu this time for my 2nd trip all sponsored by Cebu Pacific, Agoda & Visa!
If you didn't know how this happened, I won the Cebu Pacific Juan Blogger Contest a few months back, and I've won 4 trips to the Philippines inclusive of flights, accommodation and 2000USD spending money!
I've chose Cebu for the 2nd trip as well, since Manila is over, Cebu would be the next best destination to go as of course...its CEBU PACIFIC AIRWAYS HOME! It is also known as the "Queen City of the Southern Philippines"
I was given my 2nd Visa Challenge this time, to find for a famous Filipino food in the region. The clue given was: Filipino food prepared on a bamboo and cooked over burning charcoal. You wiill surely enjoy the crispy skin of this animal when fully roasted and every bite explodes of juicy, savoury flavour. Even American chef Anthony Bourdain hailed it as the best among the versions in the Spanish-influenced countries.
After I was given the clue, I headed out to Google to search for it, honestly, it was more a challenge to find it compared to the 1st challenge of finding Halo-halo in Manila. After some time of searching and asking my Philipino friends, I found out it is called Lechon Baboi!
I headed over to Ayala Mall in Cebu to find this dish, and finally I found it at the supermarket! You can buy it per kg over there woohoo! It stated "the best lechon in town" and yeah it was great! here are some pictures
It was definitely delicious and interesting. I would definitely recommend it to anyone as the crispiness of the skin is really great and it definitely doesn't need any sauces or condiments to go with it. Go for the spicy ones if you can!
